Itinerary

Day 1

Iquitos - Nauta - Amazon River

Upon your arrival at the airport, we will be waiting for you to transfer you to the DoubleTree by Hilton Iquitos hotel, where you will receive the first orientation talk about the adventure you are about to start. Then, we will go in a private vehicle to the city of Nauta, the historic river port where we will embark.

During the journey to Nauta, we will take a walk through Iquitos, a colorful, dynamic city with a captivating past. On this tour you will be able to appreciate the most emblematic attractions of the town and, if you wish, enjoy a snack.

Upon arrival in Nauta (about two hours from Iquitos), we will board La Perla and our staff will accompany you to the cabin that we have specially equipped for you with the comforts you need to have a completely pleasant trip. The ship will begin the trip towards the confluence point of the Marañón and Ucayali rivers, the majestic location in the jungle where the Amazon River is born.

At this time, the naturalist guides will present the travel plan, the routes to follow and the scheduled activities, and the best thing: they will begin to introduce us to the wonderful world of Amazonian wildlife. Pay attention to their advice and recommendations, and keep in mind that if you have any doubts or questions, our guides will always be at your disposal.

After the exhibition on board, we will have the welcome lunch, your first experience with the delights of regional gastronomy. The menu offers several options, including a vegetarian alternative. If you have any particular requirements, please discuss it in advance with our crew members so that we can attend to it in a timely manner.

In the afternoon, we will start a boat excursion to the area of the Yanayacu de Yacapana Communal Reserve to explore the amazing flora and fauna of the place. Towards sunset, we will go in search of animals that can only be seen when the sun goes down: alligators, bats, frogs, tarantulas and other species that inhabit the leafy forest of our jungle.

After this first immersion in the world of the jungle, we will return to the boat to enjoy dinner, rest and recover energy.

Day 2

Amazon River - Yanayacu - Yarapa - Ucayali River - Vista Alegre - Piraña Caño

At dawn, we will take a boat to return, stealthily, to the Yanayacu de Yacapana Communal Reserve and observe the beautiful Amazonian birds that fill the dense treetops: parrots, macaws, among many others. We will also see sloths, iguanas, monkeys and, of course, the pink and gray dolphins that have made this area very popular. A true spectacle of color and life in the heart of the forest.

After this exciting ride and back on the boat, we will enjoy the delicious buffet breakfast that daily offers a selection of traditional dishes, Peruvian specialties, freshly baked homemade products and a variety of fresh juices made with exotic fruits from the jungle that is only possible to taste in the area. After eating, we will be ready to start a new excursion by boat, but this time on the Yarapa River, in search of new impressive landscapes and more emblematic species of the Amazon.

Next, we will visit the town of Vista Alegre, to meet the local native community and learn about their customs, having the guides as interpreters and translators. In the town we will also have the opportunity to visit a butterfly garden.

Back at La Perla, we will have lunch in the boat’s dining room and, after a moment of rest, the guides will offer a talk about the origin and characteristics of the Amazon, the largest river in the world.

In the afternoon, we will navigate the Nauta Caño river by boat until we find the perfect place to fish for piranhas, those famous river fish with extremely sharp teeth. To make the moment more special, we will use equipment and artisan techniques typical of the area. Back on the boat, you can relax with live music while we wait for dinner.

After eating, you can prepare for the last outing of the day: a new walk to continue spotting nocturnal animals and delighting us with that wonderful natural concert that only the Amazonian night can give us.

Day 3

Marañón River - Marayali - Pahuachiro - Casual

The first hours of the morning have a special charm to get in touch with the jungle and are a unique opportunity for the sighting of species. For this reason, on this third morning, you also have a boat excursion scheduled before breakfast. This time the destination is the Marayali stream, a privileged area for the sighting of numerous endemic species.

Back on board, the buffet breakfast will be served and we will continue with an exploration trip in the Pahuachiro area, another jewel to appreciate the Amazonian biodiversity.

At noon, we will offer lunch and then you will have time to rest and prepare for the next adventure: a hike through the winding paths of the jungle. Before this activity, the guides will offer a practical talk on geographic orientation techniques and resources in this type of territory.

The tour will be through the beautiful sector of Casual, inhabited by poisonous frogs and countless exotic species. In this area we will also observe a variety of giant trees known by the locals as “Avatar”.

Before returning to La Perla, and still in the mountains, we will be able to enjoy the wonderful light and the incomparable colors that unfold in the sky of these latitudes during sunset. Upon returning to the ship we can relax even more with live music and comfort ourselves with the delicious dinner on board.

We will visit the stalls selling typical food, crafts, aphrodisiac drinks and many more. A true immersion in the life of the Amazon population.

Then, we will go to the Sapi Sapi Lagoon, one of the most renowned paiche hatcheries, those gigantic river fish that are a fundamental ingredient of regional gastronomy and hold the title of being the second largest freshwater fish in the world. . Here you can also appreciate a particular habitat, surrounded by aguaje palms and fruit trees, and observe the striking charapita turtles, as well as butterflies and a wide variety of birds.

Before noon we will return to the ship for lunch on board and then we will have time to rest before the next departure to Nauta Caño. Once there, we will go to the “Jungle of Mirrors”, an overwhelming setting in which the sky and the calm waters converge as the afternoon progresses, drawing exuberant landscapes of rays, clouds and infinite reflections.

This place is also ideal for spotting toucans, parrots, macaws, iguanas, sloths, and monkeys high up in the trees.

Before returning to La Perla we will do a night safari in search of the species that appear when darkness emerges. This will be an ideal moment to appreciate the wonderful starry sky of the jungle and enjoy once again the sound festival of the Amazon plain. Upon return you can enjoy dinner on board.
