Day 1
Visit to the Amaru Community
We’ll pick you up in the morning, after breakfast, for the approximately 1-hour drive to the community.
The Amaru Community will welcome visitors with music and beautiful native flowers, along with a symbolic offering to Mother Earth, or Pachamama, to give thanks for this new day and to share this experience with brothers and sisters from different cultures.
After the welcome, visitors are invited to join the community members in gathering flowers and leaves—plants gifted to us by Pachamama—which will serve as materials for natural dyeing. We’ll continue with a brief explanation and demonstration of shearing, spinning, and winding the wool into skeins; this will be followed by a demonstration of dyeing and setting the color in the wool, concluding with the hand-weaving process.
The motifs used in each of these textiles hold deep symbolic meaning for the Amaru community members, who will explain the significance of some of the most important designs.
Finally, we’ll head to the exhibition hall to view the finished garments, where we’ll have the opportunity to purchase a variety of textiles (blankets, table runners, scarves, shawls, chuspas or Andean bags, belts, and more).
To conclude, we’ll enjoy a delicious Andean lunch prepared with ingredients sourced exclusively from the region.
After the tour, we will return to Cusco city.
Day 1

- The service is subject to change without prior notice due to weather conditions (rain, inclement weather, etc.), as well as any other event that prevents the normal operation of the service. No refunds will be issued for cancellations due to the reasons listed above, nor will refunds be issued if you choose to leave before the tour ends.
