1
Day 1
Climb Mateo Peak
3:00 am Departure to Nevado Mateo, one of the peaks of the Ulta range of the Huascaran National Park. It has an altitude of 5,150 masl and is considered technically moderate and requires some experience in trekking.
The access begins before the tunnel of the Olympic point 4750 masl Carhuaz – Chacas road, has the advantage that this excursion can be done in one day.
At the top we will stay a few minutes to take pictures and enjoy the surrounding landscape. The return will be by the same road, which will take us 2.5 hours approx. to Punta Olimpica where the transport awaits us.
The path to reach the Mateo glacier is rocky and with certain slopes not suitable for those who suffer from vertigo and can take 3 to 4 hours to reach the top and depends on the physical condition of the climber.
For the ascent it is necessary to have experience in trekking in rough terrain, or rather that the client has had experience in trekking; but the technique of handling the climbing equipment such as the ice axe and walking with crampons will be instructed by our staff.
