You will be transferred from your hotel in Arequipa to the Chilli River. Shortly after, we will head down to the river through the beauty of the Chilina Valley to the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Chapi-Charcani, a small church that borders the Chili River, where our tour begins.
Before getting into the water, our guides will give us a short lesson on river safety and rescue, and will also explain the role of rafting guides and safety kayaking.
The first section of rapids is Class II and is useful for practicing rowing technique and river safety. This is followed by an exciting Class III section, where you are sure to get a little wet. The next section is Class IV, the strongest rapids you’ll come across (if you’re not in the mood for Class IV rapids, you have the option to go out and walk a short distance).
For the final section of Class III: Almost everyone is willing to participate in the wild waters, but you can also go out and walk to the finish point. After an exciting class IV excursion, we will stop for a swim and jump off the cliff, which is an option if you don’t feel wet enough. The last 15-minute stretch before leaving the river is Class III with considerable rapids.
Change your wet clothes to dry ones and we will make a quick stop at our warehouse for a snack (not included). We will take you back to the Plaza de Armas to enjoy the rest of your day in the white city.
