Quiocta stretches 545 meters into the earth. It is a whimsical work of Mother Nature. Inside the cavern you will experience incredible stories of it and the formation of stalagmites and stalactites, these have been given different names related to their curious shapes, which gives it a gothic and surreal appearance. Despite the gloom inside, the figures of the pharaoh and the mummy, the Inca, the sandeel, the fountain of wishes, etc. are displayed. It is a matter of imagination.

We will continue our trip by vehicle for one more hour to the community of Cruzpata from where we will walk about 40 minutes on a descending path to visit the group of Sarcófagos de Karajía. For the Chachapoyas culture, the cult of the dead was of great importance, especially those of the highest hierarchy. The sarcophagi are tombs with the shape of a human figure and are located in high rocks, approximately 2,400 meters of rocky and vertical wall and measure more than 02 and a half meters high. The origin of the same, their privileged position and location will be explained to them. These striking burials were discovered in 1985 by Peruvian Archaeologist Federico Kauffman Doig.

These were collective tombs that occupy natural caves or were excavated in the rocky wall of an imposing ravine.

Described by the Peruvian Archaeologist Federico Kauffman Doig, who maintains that the mausoleums are replicas of the houses where the people of the area lived. What views the dead enjoyed!

After our visit to the mausoleums, we will go on our vehicle one more hour to get to the Leymebamba Museum, where we will have lunch first.

Here we will visit the most important interpretation center of the Chachapoyas Culture, in this museum we will be able to appreciate more than 219 mummies in perfect state of conservation and more than 2,500 artifacts among ceramics, textiles, wood carvings, quipus (Inca accounting system), among others, which were used as offerings by the Chachapoyas.
