Itinerary

1
Day 1

Cusco - Capuliyoc - Marampata.

We will pick you up from your hotel between 3:30 – 4:00 AM to start our trip in a private bus for 4 hours northeast of the city of Cusco, through small cities to the city of Capuliyoc (2,800 meters above sea level) where we will have a delicious breakfast. and where we will also meet our travel staff (Arrieros).

After breakfast, we start with our hike of about 20 minutes before we reach our first viewer where we have a panoramic view to see the vilcabamba mountain range called (padreyoc) and the famous Apurimac Canyon. After witnessing an incredible view, we will begin our descent for 3 hours through beautiful landscapes where you can see different medicinal plants that were used by our ancestors (muña, chilca and different varieties of plants). If we are lucky we can see the majestic Condor. We will descend to Chiquisca (1800 meters above sea level) where we will have a typical delicious Cusco buffet lunch.

After lunch, we will have a 30-minute break to continue or walk, descending 45 more minutes to Playa Rosalinas (1700 meters above sea level), located on the Apurímac River, separated by two important Peruvian regions, Cusco and Apurimac.

 

After passing the famous Apurimac river, we continue from Asenso for 4 hours to Marampata (3,500 meters above sea level). On the way we will see bird dance, at sunset we will see the Andean people, how they live in the mountains with a lifestyle that you may never believe, compared to the city. We will arrive at our private Lodge “Choquequirao Sanctuary Lodge” at approximately 5:30 PM.. After a short break, we will have dinner at approximately 7 PM and during the night in our LOGDE, you will be able to see constellations according to the Andean or Inca religion (if the weather favors us).

 

  • Transfer to Capulioc: 4 hours by bus from Cusco.

  • Walking time: 6 ½ to 7 hours approximately.

Day 2

Maranpata - Choquequirao - Marampata.

Early in the morning, you will wake up with a coca tea and have enough time to organize your things. At approximately 7:30 AM, we will have a delicious local breakfast. We will then continue with our walk to Choquequirao, where we will see an incredible view of the Choquequirao Archaeological Complex (3900 meters above sea level). Throughout our walk, we will have incredible canon views where our tour guide will explain about the flora and fauna. We will have 3 hours to explore the entire Choquequirao Complex (cradle of gold), also known as the lost city – where you will visit the plaza sector, the llama sector, the astronomical sector and other important places.

After visiting all these places, we will begin our descent to Choquequirao camp, where our picnic lunch awaits us. After lunch, we will take a 30 minute break and continue to an incredible place that only we know, this place is called Pachayoc waterfalls (waterfalls), where you will be one with nature. Finally we will return to MARAMPATA to have dinner and rest.

Day 3

Marampata - Santa Rosa - Chikisca.

Around 6:00 AM, we will have breakfast and after an additional half hour, we will begin our walk towards Playa Rosalinas. We will go downhill for approximately 3 to 3 ½ hours to the Apurimac River that we will cross. From there we will go to Chikisca for lunch. We may also enjoy the view of the condors in this area (if we are lucky). We will be at the camp around 3:00 to 4:00 PM. Here we will also have our tea and dinner and the rest of the time to relax a bit.

  • Walking time: 4 to 5 hours approximately.
  • Climate: hot in the day and warm at night.
  • Accommodation: Camping: Chikisca.
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
  • Maximum altitude: 2919 masl / 9576 feet (Marampata)
  • Minimum altitude: 1475 meters above sea level. / 4839 feet (Playa Rosalinas)

Day 4

Chikisca - Capulioc - Cusco

After an early breakfast, you will be ready to return to Cusco. It will be the last 4 hours uphill to reach the end of the walk where you will enjoy your last lunch with your guide, porters and riders. You will say goodbye to your team other than your guide and then continue for approximately 3 hours. This time in a private bus, you will drive back to Cusco along the beautiful landscape.

Optional: After spending time enjoying the site, we head to the hot springs of Cono to relax after several days of hiking. After lunch, we return to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel.

  • Walking time: 4 to 5 hours approximately.
  • Climate: we start with a Temperate climate and end in a tropical climate.
  • Transfer to Cusco: 4 hours from Capulioc.
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch.
  • Maximum altitude: 2,862 masl / 9389 feet (Capulioc)
  • Minimum altitude: 1,857 meters above sea level. / 6,092 feet (Chikisca)
