Day 1
The Sillar Route
Transport from the hotel in Arequipa at 08:00 AM to the Culebrillas quarries (3 km from the center of Arequipa), which are located mainly in the district of Cerro Colorado and Yura.
After the 1687 earthquake in Arequipa , the massive use of the construction system with Sillar took place, and when it was perfected, it resulted in the beautiful colonial Arequipeña architecture.
The Sillar quarries come from the eruptions and on the way we will be able to appreciate the cutters of this stone in their daily tasks, as well as some samples of carvings.
In this place we can see where the masons take Ignimbrite (volcanic rock) and then patiently develop the Sillar, they will explain the preparation there in detail and we will also learn the history behind the Sillar.
We return to the city of Arequipa around 12 PM and take you to the hotel
