Transportation from your hotel in Arequipa will be between 2:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. to take you to the districts of Carmen Alto and Yanahuara where we will observe wonderful landscapes of the city surrounded by the Chachani, Misti and Pichu pichu volcanoes; its beautiful countryside formed by its still preserved pre-Inca terraces and of course the Chili River. The district of Yanahuara is the next point in our tour, in the main square we have the church of the year 1750, with a Baroque façade, but the most outstanding thing is the arches that frame beautiful pictures of the city and where texts have been engraved with all the philosophy of life and inspiration of the Arequipa population. Yanahuara is also a sample of Colonial Arequipa, it has picturesque narrow and old streets and its houses are made of ashlar.
We will return to the historic center to visit the Monastery of Santa Catalina, which is a sample of four centuries of Arequipa architecture, the intrusive cells, the small streets and cloisters full of colorful flowers and the walls painted in fresh tints. The narrow alleys lead to the various parts of the convent that run through picturesque sites and places to live and sleep with original furniture. Visitors will revive and get lost in the way of time.
We will visit the Plaza de Armas – one of the most beautiful in Peru, the Jesuit Church of the Company, which in its beautiful façade announces the so-called mestizo architecture, its cloisters and dome, the Tristán del Pozo house as a sample of a colonial house.
We will finish in the Plaza de Armas of Arequipa around 6:00 p.m.
